A Conversations page built for long compliance history

Compliance work leaves a trail of chats across weeks and workspaces. The new page makes that trail searchable, sortable, and filterable, so finding the right thread is not a long scroll.

A Conversations page built for long compliance history

Compliance projects do not fit in one chat. A gap analysis starts in June. The risk workshop is a different thread in July. The audit findings pack lives somewhere under a client workspace, three titles that all start with "SoA draft." When you need the conversation where you and the assistant settled the control wording, the sidebar already has your history, but a long list is not the same as a way to find something in it.

That is a product problem, not a memory problem. The work was done. The answer existed. Finding it again should not mean scrolling a growing vertical list and hoping the title is distinctive enough.

What we shipped

We added a dedicated Conversations page: a full list of every saved, non-temporary conversation you are allowed to see, with tools the sidebar history is not built for.

  • Search across titles and message content, so a half-remembered phrase is enough.
  • Workspace filters (All, General, and each workspace), so a multi-client practice can narrow the list to one engagement. Workspace-specific tabs also scope search to that workspace; when you search with All or General selected, search stays global (the product states that in the UI).
  • Sort by last activity (default), date created, or alphabetical title, with pagination so a long history stays usable.
  • Shared-thread indicators and workspace labels on each row, so you can tell at a glance which chats are team-visible and which workspace they belong to.

You open it from the sidebar (Conversations) or from the "View all conversations" link under the history list. It is live for signed-in users; there is no separate mode or plan gate for the page itself. Temporary conversations are intentionally excluded from the list, the same way they stay out of normal history.

Alongside the page, team search now finds all shared conversations you can already access in a shared workspace, not only threads you personally posted in. If a teammate started the risk workshop and you never typed in it, you can still find it. Personal workspaces stay private to you.

Before and after

Before, the sidebar listed your saved threads as a single history list. Fine when the count is small. Weak when a multi-week engagement has left you with many similarly named chats and no sort, workspace filter, or full-page search for that pile. Global search also under-found shared work: workspace-scoped search could show teammates' threads, while global search only returned shared threads you had messaged in. Same authorization, inconsistent discoverability. Shared threads you could open by membership were sometimes invisible until you already knew they existed.

After, there is one place built for the long trail. Filter to a workspace, search a phrase, sort by when it last moved, open the thread. Shared work that was already readable under workspace membership is also discoverable in search and on the page, with labels that say which chats are shared. The page does not invent history the sidebar hid by recency. It makes the history you already have navigable at scale, and it closes the discoverability gap for shared threads you had not participated in.

The conversations themselves did not change. The gap was navigation: compliance work accumulates, and the product needed a way to treat that accumulation as a library, not only as a long recents strip.

Why this is worth a product surface

A compliance assistant is only as useful as the work you can reuse. Policies, gap notes, vendor reviews, and audit prep often span many sessions. If older threads are hard to find, people re-ask the same questions, re-upload the same evidence, or re-litigate decisions that were already made. That is wasted time, and it is how inconsistency creeps into a multi-week engagement.

The Conversations page is a small surface with a large job: make past work findable on purpose. Sort and filter are not chrome. They are how a two-month ISO 27001 engagement stays navigable when the chat count is no longer "a handful."

Who it is for

  • Practitioners running multi-week certifications or surveillance prep, who leave many threads per engagement and need to reopen a specific decision without scanning a long undifferentiated list.
  • Consultants and firms with client workspaces, who need to stay inside one client's trail and still search across it.
  • Teams on shared workspaces, who need every member to find shared threads, not only the person who started them.

If you only ever keep a few active chats and finish them the same day, the sidebar is still enough. The page earns its keep when history is the asset, not the clutter.

Try it

In the app, open Conversations from the sidebar, or use View all conversations under your history list. Filter to a workspace, search for a phrase you remember, and open the thread. For team work, try searching for a shared conversation a teammate started: it should show up if you have access to that workspace.

Past work only helps if you can get back to it. That is what this page is for.
