About NEN 7510 Copilot

NEN 7510 is the de-facto mandatory baseline for information security in Dutch healthcare, spanning a management-system part (Deel 1) and a sector-specific controls part (Deel 2). The NEN 7510 Copilot helps you orient in the standard, understand its regulatory context for zorgaanbieders, and connect it to the ISO 27001/27002 parent standards it builds on. The full normative text is licensed by NEN, so we work at the structural and contextual level.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is NEN 7510?

NEN 7510 is a Dutch national standard for information security in healthcare, published by NEN. It consists of two parts: NEN 7510-1 (management system, aligned with ISO 27001) and NEN 7510-2 (controls, aligned with ISO 27002 with healthcare-specific additions). Its use is operationally mandated for healthcare providers via Besluit elektronische gegevensverwerking door zorgaanbieders (Begz) Art. 3.

How does the NEN 7510 Copilot help?

The Copilot helps you interpret the structure and regulatory context of NEN 7510-1:2024 and NEN 7510-2:2024+A1:2026, identify relevant control areas for your organisation, and understand how the standard relates to AVG Art. 32, the Begz, and companion standards such as NEN 7512 and NEN 7513.

How does NEN 7510 relate to ISO 27001 and ISO 27799?

NEN 7510-1 is structurally aligned with ISO/IEC 27001:2022, and NEN 7510-2 builds on the ISO/IEC 27002 control structure with healthcare-specific additions. ISO 27799 is a separate international standard published by ISO (current edition: ISO 27799:2025) and is not equivalent to NEN 7510, which has its own Dutch certification schemes and audit practice.
