Preguntas frecuentes
What is Ireland NIS 2?
Ireland NIS 2 refers to Ireland's planned transposition of Directive (EU) 2022/2555 through the National Cyber Security Bill 2024. The Bill was published as a General Scheme on 30 August 2024 but has not yet been enacted; in the meantime, NIS 1 under S.I. No. 360 of 2018 remains the operative regime.
How does the Ireland NIS 2 Copilot help?
The Copilot helps you interpret the Directive's requirements and the General Scheme's expected approach, identify which competent authority is likely to oversee your sector, and understand where current NIS 1 obligations under S.I. No. 360 of 2018 already apply to your organisation. For definitive in-scope determinations or registration steps, it routes you to NCSC Ireland's NIS 2 hub at ncsc.gov.ie/nis2.
Does my organisation need to register with NCSC Ireland now?
No registration obligation under NIS 2 exists in Irish law until the Bill is enacted and a registration portal opens. NCSC Ireland has confirmed that the NIS 2 registration portal is not yet available; registration timelines will be published by NCSC Ireland after enactment.
